Mandeville Place
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
2003 -
Located a few blocks west of Philadelphia’s urban core, on the Schuylkill River, Mandeville Place is designed to offer an urban alternative to the suburban residence.
The ultra-thin proportions and orientation of the 43-story tower contrast with a more predictable frontal massing in riverfront development. Designed with a wafer-like appearance, the 265,000 square foot building will stand in contrast to the city’s skyline of thick, heavy office buildings. The tower will be constructed of architectural concrete, stainless steel panels and clear high performance glass with exterior shading.
The east/west building axis is responsive to urban view corridors from the center city to the river and park. Presenting its slim side to the water, the tower will preserve public views of the river from Sansom Street. By planning one condominium unit for most floors, the broad north and south facades offer each residence 360-degree views to the city and river. The minimal west exposure limits sun control issues and facade ventilators allow natural ventilation at appropriate times of the year.
Amenities include a “sky garden” rooftop terrace, health club, pool, screening room and will connect to restaurant and office space. All parking is designed underground.
